Back on June 15th, I created a list of things that I wanted to accomplish by October 15th. There were 61 things on it. Today is the day. Including things that I have scheduled (as in, I’ve booked appointments for things that haven’t actually happened yet), I have completed 38 items. That’s just over 60%.
I’m impressed with myself. Especially considering that half of the items I completed were all steps in one super humongous purge project that was my number one priority this summer.
I moved on a regular basis as a kid. As an adult, I’ve moved less and accumulated more “stuff”. My goal was to purge the house of anything that I wasn’t using. It took all summer but I did it. All that’s left is to call the Salvation Army to come and pick it all up.
I did manage some other projects, mostly house related. A few unchecked chores – like organizing photo albums – can be done over winter months. I only have one big thing left to do. Unfortunately I have no experience weather-stripping doors so that one could be fun.
Even though almost half my list was left undone I still think that I got more completed this summer than I would have without it. It’s a lot of one-time chores done that I no longer have to worry about. But I won’t be making any more to-do lists any time soon.
