1. If you were stuck on a deserted island, what is the one book you’d like to have with you?
Jane Eyre It’s my favorite book of all time. It has the perfect balance of darkness and hope, intrigue and romance, wonderfully mysterious yet flawed characters with horrible pasts. I love the deep connection between the characters, and yet it’s never swoony or sappy.
Great choice! I love Jane Eyre (although I must admit that I usually start once she arrives at Thornfield Hall. Her childhood is just too sad.)
2. What is your favourite part of the writing process?
All of it, but if I had to choose, I’d say the initial outlining/idea conjuring process. Anything is possible.
3. How did you pick your characters’ names?
I LOVE names. I have lists in my phone of names I’ve come across that I like, I have favorite baby naming sites that show the meaning behind the names, and I also borrow from history or mythology.
4. How do you treat yourself after finishing a book?
Start on the next one!
5. If you could co-write a story with any author (living or dead) who would you pick?
Charlotte Brontè. I have such amazing respect for what she accomplished in her books, which is even more amazing if you remember the time period in which she lived, when women didn’t hold the same respect and freedoms as we do now.

On her deathbed, Aiden’s mother asks him to find his father, who had left them and disappeared thirteen years ago, shortly after Aiden’s brother died. While searching the roughest area of Baltimore, Aiden meets Maylynn. After eight years of seminary and one year of priesthood, Aiden had thought he was capable of seeing beautiful women in only a platonic way. But Maylynn proves to be too difficult.
Seven years later, Maylynn shows up on Father Aiden’s doorstep for a premarital counseling session with her fiancé. Aiden soon realizes something is wrong, more than just his constant struggle against his attraction—Maylynn and her fiancé, Davis, are hiding something from him.
